What type of curriculum do you offer?

OLMC School follows the Diocese of Richmond Consensus Curriculum, which is based on National Standards and is consistent with State of Virginia guidelines.  Read more about our curriculum HERE.

What is the average class size?

The average class size at OLMC School is 18 students.

Is OLMC School accredited?

OLMC School is fully accredited by Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. For over 130 years, Middle States has been helping school leaders establish and reach their goals, develop strategic plans, promote staff development, and advance student achievement.

Hundreds of faith-based schools seek out MSA accreditation because MSA supports and recognizes the importance of having schools fulfill their missions under their specialized faith-based traditions values.

What are the credentials for OLMC School teachers?

OLMC teachers have at least a bachelor’s degree and are licensed and certified.  Over half of our excellent educators possess a masters degree.

Does my child need to take a placement test before being accepted?

All students are expected to take a placement/readiness test to assess grade appropriate levels in math, reading, and writing. Pre-school and Kindergarten students will take the Brigance readiness assessment.

Does OLMC School offer before/after care?

OLMC School offers daily before and after school care. Before school care begins at 6:30am. After school care begins at dismissal until 6:30 pm. Both services are provided by the Newport News Parks and Recreation Tourism Program.

What are Service Hours?

Service hours are works of service provided by the parent community in order to offset operating costs and keep tuition low.

Do you have a bus service?

Yes, bus service is available on the Peninsula and across the James River Bridge.

How do you collect tuition?

Tuition is payable through the FACTS Tuition Management Automatic Payment system. There are three tuition payment plan options from which to choose.

If I register after the beginning of the year, do I have to pay full tuition?

When registering after the beginning of the school year, tuition will be prorated to reflect only those days you attend school. However, fees are NOT prorated.

Do you have Financial Aid?

Financial Aid is available through both the Catholic Diocese of Richmond and Our Lady of Mount Carmel School to those families who demonstrate financial need and qualify through the FACTS Grant and Aid process.  To apply, please visit FACTS Grant & Aid Assessment.
