                      Early Childhood Program
OLMC

Early childhood instruction is the foundation for education, and is paramount for a child’s developmental success. The first year in school is a great adventure away from home for children and is incredibly important to later achievement in school.

Pre-K Curriculum

The Preschool Program at Our Lady of Mount Carmel School provides a place of learning that doubles as a “home away from home.” We provide an environment that is in keeping with the way you nurture your child’s growth and encourage maturity in Christian values.

The Pre-K program at OLMC deliberately balances the academic foundation which helps them succeed in the K-8 program with the socialization and “play” that is so essential to forming the whole child. The Curriculum is designed to help stimulate a good self concept, providing each child with many opportunities for achievement. Pre-K students work and create independently, as well as learn to cooperate with others in a group. The program provides social and emotional development opportunities, inspires language development and expands physical, spiritual and mental growth.

Pre-K students participate in “specials” including: Art, Music, Library, Physical Education, Computer and Foreign Language. Religion classes are taught daily. Pre-K students also participate in the Faith Family program, the Science Fair, field trips, school wide assemblies and weekly Mass.

The Pre-K program is a full day program open to children who turn 4 years old by December 31st. Before and after school care is also available.

Kindergarten Curriculum

Our Lady of Mount Carmel School’s Kindergarten Program is led by a team of educators with over 50 years of combined experience teaching children in Catholic schools. All subjects are taught in a Christ-centered environment allowing for teaching discipline with distinction. The Kindergarten Curriculum is designed to develop essential skills for our eager learners including enthusiasm toward learning, the ability to listen, play and work well with others. Students learn to discover, identify and become curious about components in the environment in the areas of science, health, math, reading, writing and social studies. During the year students are taught how to communicate effectively through drawing, writing, speaking and reading. Additionally, students learn how to recognize appropriate behaviors which help lead them to becoming healthy, happy and well adjusted individuals.

All Kindergarten students participate in “specials” including: Art, Music, Library, Physical Education, Computer and Foreign Language. Religion classes are taught daily. Kindergarten students also participate in the Faith Family program, the Science Fair, field trips, school wide assemblies, and weekly Mass.

The Kindergarten program is open to children that are 5 years old by September 30th (at the start of the school year). Kindergarten is a full day, five-day a week program, from 8am-3pm. Before and after school care is available.
