"Welcome to 6A"

    Dear Parents,

Happy spring! I hope you and your family enjoyed Easter and the break. With the time flying by, we continue to work hard in 6th grade. Please encourage your child to stay focused on their goals and finish the year strong. After the break, it is difficult to maintain the same focus and effort when thoughts of summer begin to creep up. I’ve asked the students to keep this verse in mind as we approach the last couple months of our school year:

“Do you not know that in a race the runners all compete,
but only one receives the prize?
    Run so as to win.”

    1 Corinthians 9:24

Please take a look below to see what we are doing in class. If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know.

    Have a blessed week,

    Miss May

    Extra Credit Opportunities

A special thank you to all the parents who helped with our celebration of the Seder Meal on Holy Thursday. Whether it was sending in food or items we needed, or serving at the meal itself, I greatly appreciate all you did to help! Everything was beautiful and we could not have done it without you. It is something I will always remember and I’m sure the students will, too! Thank you and God bless you!

    Religion
We have finished our study of the Liturgy and now begin our study of the Sacraments. We will begin with Chapter 13 on “Baptism and Confirmation.” Please encourage and help your child to participate as fully as possible in the sacraments.

Students, remember to use the online quiz for each chapter when you’re studying for the test! www.faithfirst.com

    Social Studies
We are concluding our study of ancient Greece with a poster project on Alexander the Great. (This will be completed mostly in class.) Posters are due on Monday, April 19th. Please click on rubric if you have any questions.

We are also beginning our study of ancient Rome. We will be reading the book Martyr of the Catacombs in class as we study early Christianity in Rome. Students are not required to have a copy, but if they wish to follow along, they may bring their own copy to class.

    Homework

Students have been reminded about the 6th grade homework policy, the impact homework can have on their overall average and the importance of completing their homework on time. Homework counts! If any assignments are late or missing, it is highlighted in the student’s agenda. Please check your child’s agenda from time to time. Thank you!

    Reminders...
  • Third Trimester interims will be sent home on Friday, April 23rd.
  • Human Development talks are scheduled for Friday, April 23rd.
  • Grandparent’s Day is Friday, May 7th. (This is also a noon dismissal.)
